Planning a wedding takes time, effort, money, and did we mention time? It is no wonder why brides and grooms across the world sometimes encounter some not-so relaxing moments on their big day. Silly mistakes can often be blamed to the stress that sometimes occurs when planning a memorable event. While no bride or groom wishes to have a stressful moment on their wedding day, many common mistakes are completely avoidable. It is important and quite helpful for couples to take note of several mistakes that are often made when planning a wedding.
Don't Wait Until the Last Minute
Waiting until the last minute is a bad idea when planning any event, especially a wedding. Brides and grooms alike, both tend to underestimate their to-do list the day of the wedding. It is not only important, but imperative to properly delegate responsibilities and tasks to those who are helping with the wedding. One of the most over looked areas where assistance is always needed is the assembling of wedding favors. The night before the wedding is not an ideal time to be packing bags with rice. Assign these little jobs to kind friends who want to help, to avoid last minute chaos. If something goes wrong and the favors are not ready for distribution the day of the wedding, it is okay to ask a friend at the last minute to jump into action, they will understand.
Designate a Go-To Girl or Boy
The bride and groom spend countless days being in control of all things wedding related, but the day of the wedding is not the time to be boss, let a friend assume the role. It is to be expected for minor things to go wrong, to encounter a few snafus, and even for some guests to get lost in route to the wedding. By appointing an individual to handle the problems and the questions that may arise, the bride and groom are free to enjoy their special day drama and stress free. Even if there was a problem, the bride and groom are not in the best frame of mind for troubleshooting. The best person to assume this role would ideally be one who has either hosted a wedding of their own or has had prior wedding experience.
Avoid Color
Once the bride is all gowned up, she should avoid any contact with all things color or possible stain threats. Clear liquids are the safest bet for consumption. It would be beneficial to have a backup plan in place if something is spilled on the dress. Having stain removing wipes on hand could be helpful as well, but be sure that the dress material can sustain being cleaned if an accident occurs.
Have a Plan B
There are some elements that are completely out of the control of those planning a wedding and weather is one of them. If an outdoor reception or ceremony is taking place, be sure to have an alternate location to accommodate the event in case of rain. Most wedding venues offer secondary locations in the event of poor weather conditions. If the chosen wedding venue does not offer additional locations, consider tents.
Pack Before or After
If the bags didn't get packed for the honeymoon prior to the wedding, the big day is not the time to pack. There will be endless tasks and too little time to accomplish everything and packing should be at the bottom of the list. If packing cannot be postponed until the next day, the couple should have a friend complete the packing. Having a packing list composed prior to the wedding would help avoid any vacation items being forgotten. source.
