My Favorite Things

I wanted to give a wrap up of my favorites from this past Christmas, including some new finds!!  Every year I have a December calendar filled with fun activities to celebrate Christmas.  This ensures that I make the most of the most joyous time of year.  If perhaps you need help spicing up your holiday calendar look for websites listing events in your area.  My favorite are performing arts that celebrate Christmas like Houston Ballet's The Nutcracker and Houston Symphony's Handel’s Messiah in Candlelight.  I have also found that volunteering at holiday events (like at your local art museum) is a great way to give back and get in the Christmas spirit!  I started off this year volunteering with the Houston Symphony Junior Patron's family day, then attending The Night Before Christmas performance.

This might seem a little cheesy, especially because I can't use children as an excuse, but I like to record all the Christmas parties and events we attend in our Christmas Memories Book.  I learned about this tradition from a leader in our Newlywed class at church.  I have to say I think it is so sweet to record each Christmas and save your Christmas card every year in the book.  I can't wait for our future children to be able to appreciate the memories captured in this book!

I also have to share that at Caspari Heaven a.k.a. Events I found my favorite wrapping paper of all time!!  Isn't this Chinoiserie paper magical?!?!  Let the hoarding begin!

I like to wrap presents with different destinations in different colored paper.  That way, all presents for a destination match, and it is very easy to see what needs to be packed in the car etc.  Again, super cheesy I know.  I am very picky about wrapping paper and after visiting every imaginable store in town I found a few other papers I loved!
Another Christmastime favorite is the Houston Junior League all decorated for the holidays!!  I know I always say this, but we are truely lucky to have such beautiful facilities!

Every winter I have a serious hot chocolate addiction.  I wish the season had not been so mild this year, but I enjoyed a cup or two when needed.  My favorite addition was handmade, peppermint marshmallows from my local sweet shop Petite Sweets!!

Cookies for Santa!!  Find my favorite just-like-homemade brand here.
I tried to get a picture of my favorite Christmas pup for you all, but my point-and-shoot is clearly failing me.

Isn't he darling though!
